About
I live in Scotland with my wife and our two chocolate labradors. We've always loved adventure and travel, particularly in this beautiful country we call home!
In 2014 I was diagnosed with Neuromyelitis Optica (a rare, relapsing neurological disorder) after my first attack that caused chest down paralysis and partial blindness. I stayed in hospital for 2 months as I learned to walk again and my vision returned. There was inevitably some irreparable damage to my spinal cord. A few relapses down the line, I now use my wheelchair to get out and about.
It's only in the last couple of years that I've found my sense of adventure again and it's doing me the world of good! All that Scottish fresh air, the hills, white sand beaches, lochs...it's good for the soul. I've started sharing my adventures to help other wheelchair users find brilliant places to go (usually off the beaten track!) in Scotland.
Favourite Custom Propel Product
My favourite Custom Propel product is the FIST gloves. Like most wheelchair users, I've tried many, many gloves only to find they don't fit, or wear out really quickly. I found the perfect fit using the size guide online and chose my most recent pair in bright orange! I love that there are so many designs on the Custom Propel website to choose from, including some really 'out there' designs you just don't find in standard wheelchair gloves.
Fit-wise, they're snug enough to make sure I get a good grip on my push rims, and really flexible too. Good grip means a good push, which is of course helped by the man-made leather palm - it has a suede feel about it, and feels really durable. Oh, and they're touch screen conductive too, meaning I don't have to take my gloves off to answer a call or send a text, or make my next order from Custom Propel!
